Emjoi AP-18 Emagine Dual Opposed 72 Tweezer Head Epilator

The Emjoi AP-18 Emagine Dual Opposed 72 Tweezer Head Epilator is not for those new to epilating. The reason we do not recommend it for first-timers is the power and number of tweezers this model has. These are not negative characteristics, but they do equate to a bit more pain if you are not already used to it. It is great for those who want fast and really effective epilation.

Effectiveness

The absolute best feature of the Emjoi Emagine is the 72 tweezer head. Having the most amount of tweezers than any other sets this unit apart from the rest. Not only does it have a high number of tweezers, the special thing about the head is that there are actually two parts to it. The tweezers are divided up and each section spins in an opposite direction. IN the middle of these two dual opposed heads is the “lifting finger” that gets any of those flat lying hairs that try to sneak unnoticed.

We absolutely love this feature! The power and efficiency created when there are such a high number of tweezers makes it get more done in less time. Since the two parts of the head spin in opposite directions, it pulls the skin more taught, allowing more hairs to become available to the unit. Additional, this allows it to have a better chance of pulling the hair out rather than just breaking it.

This epilator is able to remove very short hairs (as short as .5 mm). While the head does not rotate, the unit is curved to try to make up for it. In our opinion, this is nothing to write home about but it’s nice to have.

If you are looking for one that is easy to use and gets the job done quickly, this is the one for you. They claim that you can be smooth for up to 6 weeks when using this unit. This is about 2 weeks more than your average epilator. We really believe that how fast your hair grows really can’t be controlled. However, since this unit is so powerful and covers so much at one time, it makes sense that it removes hair that others may miss and can be seen sooner than 6 weeks.

Versatility

We really believe that the best use of this epilator is for the legs and under-arms. Due to how wide the head is and the amount of tweezers, it is not very practical to use on small areas such as the upper lip where you would want more precision. It is not to say that you cannot use it on your face, but be ready for some extra pain and frustration if you do.

Emjoi AP-18 Emagine Dual Opposed 72 Tweezer Head Epilator For Men

Emjoi AP-18 Emagine Dual Opposed 72 Tweezer Head Epilator For Men

If you do want to use it in the bikini region, you may want to stick to just doing the outer areas. The pain may be a deterrent for some of us who just cannot bear it in that sensitive area. Again, not having the ability to switch to a smaller head can make it difficult to get a small, tight area when you are trying to minimize the pain.

The Emjoi AP-18 Emagine Dual Opposed 72 Tweezer Head is great for use in the under-arm area. Since hairs might grow in several directions in the armpits, this unit really allows for you to get all of them in less time and effort. It helps you by pulling the skin taught and this is a huge plus when it comes to the under-arms. In just a couple passes, it leaves your underarms smooth and soft.

Another unique aspect of this particular unit is that it comes in a version for me. I know that there are men who have given this product high ratings on reviews. They like the fact that there is a men’s version so they do not have to have a feminine looking device in their cabinet and it gets the job done perfectly for their “manscaping” needs.

Mobility

This device is for dry use only and runs only while plugged in. There is a long cord that comes with the unit so that helps when you have a plug far from the area you want to use it in. Not being cordless has the benefit of never worrying about your unit not being able to hold a charge. Moreover, there is more power available when you have it directly connected to electricity.

Extra Features

110v/120v Cord for Emjoi AP-18 Emagine Dual Opposed 72 Tweezer Head EpilatorThis epilator comes with a worldwide power cord (110v/240v). It is a very long cord so that helps when your outlet is farther from where you want to get your epilating done.

For cleaning, the unit includes a small brush.

Being the first to introduce Silver Ion Technology is another factor that sets this Emjoi apart from others. This gives your skin antimicrobial protection. If you have sensitive skin, this may be the selling point for you. We encourage you to take measures when it comes to protecting your skin from infection, so we love that this product helps that cause.

Drawbacks

While some might argue that an epilator is not worth the money if it’s not cordless, we don’t really consider this a bad thing. It might make it a bit less convenient for use when traveling or if you really need to be able to choose where you use it and not be limited to where there is a plug. It does not, however, make it a less superior device in our opinion.

The materials used for the gears on this model are not as high quality as some of the higher priced units. This means you may only have a good unit for a couple of years or few months depending on usage and care. If you buy a new unit every couple of years anyway, then it may not be a factor. We would not recommend it for those looking to have an epilator for the next ten years without any issues.
