We absolutely love the pivoting head on this great epilator. Having the ability to contour and maneuver effortlessly over the natural curves of your body gives this an edge in effectiveness. There’s nothing more frustrating when it comes to epilating than having to keep going over the same spots because they were missed on the first run. Moreover, tugging and pulling you skin in every which direction is not a very fun way of trying to get the it to do it’s job when you do not have a pivoting head.
If you’ve ever looked at the hair that an epilator pulls, you would know that it is doing it right when the roots of the hair are visible. This epilator does just that. Although it may seem to run slower when compared to some other brands (even on the fast setting), this does not automatically make it less effective. On the contrary, the speed of this epilator is perfect for grabbing the hair and making sure to pull from the root. Some epilators may be louder and move faster, but don’t confuse that with more power. You don’t want a machine that just grabs and tears the hair. It’s more about that perfect speed to hold on to the hair and allow it to get pulled out of the follicle with the whole root. After all, faster epilation is not always a good thing if you are left with bumps, ingrowns, and missed hair.
With the 40 tweezers offered on this model, you can be sure that you will get the coverage you need. Not only does this epilator provide you with flawlessly silky skin, it does so with less pain than many other brands. I would be the first to tell you that epilating will always hurt, but having the right tool can help prevent some of the unnecessary pain associated with hair removal. For those times when you feel a bit more sensitive, maybe around that time of the month, it’s nice to be able to use the epilator in the shower and get assistance from the warmth of the water soothing your skin as you epilate.
As far as the places to use this epilator go, we recommend you stick to the areas with finer, longer hair. By longer hair, I mean more like the type of hair that grows straight an out, not curling or too short. It tends to work very well in areas of the face with the use of the precision cap. It is also great for use on the legs. Unlike the bikini or underarm areas, the leg hair is the best type for this epilator to work with. It will do a beautifully silky job on the chin and upper lip areas.
If you are a the type that has some fine hair on the lower belly area, toes, or even on your feet, you can be sure this will take care of those for you very effectively. These areas can be sneakily sensitive to epilating, especially if you have not gotten used to it. This is the perfect one to use in order to avoid as much of the pain as possible.
As I have mentioned previously, it really is nice to be able to use an epilator in the shower. Some may even go as far as saying that using warm water and soap makes it pain free. The Remington Smooth & Silky is very efficient per stroke when compared to some other, pricier brands that are also wet/dry models.
This device can only function when not plugged in. Sure, it is not very convenient if you forget to charge it, but that’s something you’ll just have to get in the habit of doing. The only time it should be plugged in is when charging and not in use. Remington recommends that the device be charged for four hours before first use. This seems a it long, considering it will last just about an hour. It may give you just enough time to do your legs and face. Sometimes that’s all a girl needs.

We really appreciate the built-in grips on this unit. That, along with the built-in light may seem trivial, but can really add to a better user experience. Being able to use this in a wet environment can make it slippery, especially if soap is involved. You save time not having to constantly pick it up if it slips easily from your hand. You will also really appreciate the little light that illuminates your skin so that you can make sure you get all the little hidden “corners.”
As you already know, keeping your device clean is key to a longer lasting unit and protection for you skin. Having a removable head allows you to clean it more effectively. If you are able to get all the gunk and hair off the tweezers, you’ll be sure to experience smoother skin. Think of it as the epilator’s way of thanking you for keeping it clean.
The Precision Cap and Massaging Cap are in the package. We have said it before and will tell you again how much we love the aloe vera on the massaging cap. What a great, soothing touch! Of course, the precision cap, sure does come in handy for those smaller areas that you need to focus the tweezers on.
We hate to admit, but there are a few negatives on this product. They are nothing major but we think you should be aware so that you can make an informed decision on what works for you.
We mentioned before that the unit takes four hours to charge, out of the box. Although this is not the case for every charge, it is a bit annoying when the charge really only lasts 40 minutes. I have a lot of hair on my legs, so at times, I’ve had to let it charge a little more before I could finish. The other thing that may add to this issue is the sensitivity of this product.
As a safety mechanism, they have designed this device to stop anytime it senses that it may damage or pull on your skin. Now, that is a great feature. I Just think that just because I press a bit hard sometimes, doesn’t mean that my skin is going to be torn. At times, even just adjusting how you hold it can cause it to stop. Every time it stops, you have to give it a minute off and start again. This can add to your epilating time and become very inconvenient if it happens to you often.
Another drawback of the design is the bulkiness. It is just a little awkward to hold. Not only is it a little top-heavy, but the caps don’t always adjust perfectly.
If you have coarse hair all over, then maybe this would not be the ideal epilator for you. If you tend to shave or wax your bikini and underarm areas anyway and want one for your face and leg maintenance, then this model could work well for you. The price it right on this unit, so it is worth getting it for those areas. A good epilator for the face sure beats waxing. You can avoid the cost and the pulling of your skin (after waxing your face over a long period it will make your skin sag and can add unwanted wrinkles!).
